Should I be following you? What about linking up? You wanna link up?   My links are woefully outdated and while I still love love love the people listed over there on the left I know from my google reader that many have wandered away from the practice of writing on their blogs.  Lucky for […]

It is at moments like this, late at night, when the house is quiet and I have some space to think that I come to some realizations…mainly about who I am and what I do in this here world.  I realize as I sit here deciding what I ought to be writing that all I […]

I haven’t been writing a great deal of poetry lately. It may be simply that my mind is overrun with a number of other things, commitments, transitions, what have you…but suffice it to say the most I’ve done is wrestle with editing the poems I have on hand. Lord, I hate editing. So for Poetry […]

Our version of “sports” apparently comes with swords. (Well, of course it does!) All four kids began Fencing last week. Dear one, When you say that you’re “fine” in response to an offer of help I believe you. I believe that you are “fine” and capable and worthy and strong. I believe this. Taking an offer of help doesn’t always need to be an admission of weakness…or even need. When things are heavy so often […]

The givens: Rob Bell wrote a book about Love (and Hell, or the absence of it, or the absence of people in it) Rob Bell did publicity for it. A bunch of people got mad and called him names before they read it. A bunch of newspeople and bloggers spent a lot of time writing […]

A little known fact. It’s nearly impossible to write anything of substance when my 83 year old mother in law is reading Captain Underpants to my 6 year old in the other room. You should try it sometime. I gladly invite you into the chaos that is my home office. It can be downright entertaining […]

Henry told me last night that kids are actually smarter than grown ups because kids spend more time seeing than adults do. He tells me that grown ups spend way too much time in their head, thinking and talking. He reckons that grown ups think so much they’ve forgotten how to really see or experience […]
